Crossplay Cheat Sheet
NYT Crossplay uses its own tile-point system and board layout. This cheat sheet covers tile values and board strategy to help you find the best scoring plays every turn.
About Crossplay
Crossplay is a tile-based word game by The New York Times that uses its own unique tile values and board layout. Unlike traditional Scrabble, common consonants like N, R, S, and T are worth only 1 point, while high-value tiles like J are worth 10 points.
Crossplay Tile Point Values
Knowing each tile's value lets you quickly evaluate plays before committing.
| Tile | Point Value | Tile | Point Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blank | 0 | A | 1 |
| B | 4 | C | 3 |
| D | 2 | E | 1 |
| F | 4 | G | 4 |
| H | 3 | I | 1 |
| J | 10 | K | 6 |
| L | 2 | M | 3 |
| N | 1 | — | — |
Strategy Tip
Use 3-letter hooks to create two words in one play. This doubles your scoring opportunities without requiring long, complex words. Equally important: avoid opening up triple-word tiles for your opponent unless your own play scores significantly more from them.
