Wordsmith Cheat Sheet

Wordsmith supports up to 4 players on a 15×15 grid. With more competitors, the board fills faster and positional play becomes more important than in 2-player games.

About Wordsmith

Wordsmith is a mobile word game that supports online multiplayer for up to 4 players on a 15×15 grid. Each player takes turns placing words, and the game ends when no more valid plays can be made or all tiles have been drawn.

4-Player Board Strategy

  • The board fills up fast. With 4 players taking turns, premium squares get claimed within the first few rounds. Always identify the nearest bonus square and plan your first 2 turns to reach it.
  • Limit hooking opportunities for opponents. Avoid leaving open, easily extendable words near Triple Word squares. Every word you play is a potential jumping point for the next three players.
  • Play defensively in the mid-game. Once the board is half-full, switching to a deny-and-score strategy — blocking opponents while still scoring — is more effective than pure offence.
  • Track who holds the Q and Z. In 4-player games, high-value tiles are distributed across all racks. If the Q hasn't appeared, assume it's being held and plan board openings accordingly.

Rack Management

  • Keep 2–3 vowels at all times. A vowel-heavy rack is harder to play than a balanced one.
  • Hold S tiles for extending existing words or forming parallel plays.
  • Avoid hoarding high-value tiles (Q, Z, J, X) until late game unless a premium square is immediately available.

Strategy Tip

In 4-player games, the board fills up quickly. Focus on placing words that not only score well but also limit your opponents' ability to connect to high-value areas. A well-placed word that blocks a Triple Word square can be worth more than the points it directly scores.
