Word Yatzy Cheat Sheet

Word Yatzy blends Scrabble letter rolling with Yahtzee-style scoring categories. Timing your best words to the highest multiplier rounds is the key to a winning score.

About Word Yatzy

Word Yatzy combines elements of Scrabble and Yahtzee. Players roll letters and must fill 5 word spaces on a board, with tile multipliers increasing with each round. Filling all 5 word spaces earns a massive 100-point "Yatzy" bonus.

Scoring Strategy

  • Fill easy spaces early. Short, common words (3–4 letters) are easier to roll — knock them out in early rounds when multipliers are low.
  • Save longer spaces for later. The multipliers grow each round, so filling a 6–7 letter space in a late round scores significantly more than filling it early.
  • Re-roll strategically. You get re-rolls each turn. Hold onto letters that form partial words and re-roll the rest — don't re-roll a strong partial hand.
  • Aim for the Yatzy bonus. Filling all 5 word spaces awards 100 bonus points — far more valuable than any single high-scoring word. Prioritise completing the board over chasing one massive word.

Strategy Tip

Save your longest word spaces for later rounds when tile multipliers are higher. Filling all 5 word spaces earns a massive 100-point "Yatzy" bonus, so board completion should always be the primary goal — a complete board beats a single exceptional word.
