Word Blitz Cheat Sheet

Word Blitz is a race against the clock on a 4×4 letter grid. The strategies below help you find words faster and score higher than your opponents.

About Word Blitz

Word Blitz is a fast-paced multiplayer word game inspired by Boggle. Players are presented with a 4×4 grid of 16 letters and must find as many words as possible within a time limit by connecting adjacent letters. Longer words score more points.

Speed Techniques

  • Scan for common prefixes first. RE-, UN-, and IN- appear frequently and let you extend many root words quickly.
  • Look for suffix chains. Once you find a root word, immediately try adding -S, -ED, -ING, -ER, and -EST before moving on to the next word.
  • Work from high-value letter clusters. Tiles like Q, X, Z, and J are rare — build around them first since those words are harder to find under pressure.
  • Swipe in patterns. Train your eye to recognise common letter sequences (TH-, SH-, CH-, -TION) so you can swipe them reflexively.
  • Aim for 5+ letter words. Words of five or more letters earn disproportionately higher points. Even finding one or two long words can win a close match.

Quick Reference: Common Affixes

Prefixes

  • RE- (redo, reset, rerun)
  • UN- (undo, unfit, unset)
  • IN- (inset, input)
  • DE- (deter, define)
  • PRE- (preset, prefix)

Suffixes

  • -S (adds any plural)
  • -ED (past tense)
  • -ING (present participle)
  • -ER (comparative/agent)
  • -EST (superlative)

Strategy Tip

Speed is crucial. Look for common prefixes (RE-, UN-) and suffixes (-ING, -ED, -S) to quickly expand your word count within the time limit. Practising these patterns offline builds the muscle memory needed to swipe them instantly during a live game.
