How to Delete a Page in Microsoft Word
Learn different methods to remove unwanted pages from your Word documents.
Method 1: Using the Delete Key
The simplest way to delete a blank page is to place your cursor at the beginning of the blank page and press the Delete key.
- Navigate to the blank page you want to delete
- Place your cursor at the very beginning of the page
- Press the Delete key repeatedly until the page disappears
Method 2: Using the Backspace Key
If Delete doesn't work, try using Backspace from the end of the page.
- Go to the end of the page before the blank page
- Press Backspace to remove any extra paragraph marks or page breaks
- Continue until the blank page is removed
Method 3: Show/Hide Formatting Marks
Sometimes blank pages are caused by hidden formatting marks. Make them visible to delete them.
- Click the ¶ (Paragraph) button on the Home tab
- This reveals all formatting marks including paragraph breaks and page breaks
- Delete any extra paragraph marks (¶) or page breaks on the blank page
- Click the ¶ button again to hide the marks
Method 4: Remove Page Break
If the blank page is caused by a manual page break, you'll need to remove it.
- Enable formatting marks by pressing Ctrl + Shift + 8
- Look for "Page Break" text on the blank page
- Click before the page break and press Delete
Common Issues and Solutions
Page won't delete?
Check if there's a table or image on the page. You may need to delete or resize it first.
Last page won't go away?
Try reducing the bottom margin of the previous page or adjusting paragraph spacing.
Section breaks?
Section breaks can cause blank pages. Delete them carefully to avoid affecting document formatting.
